Our judges represent some of the top wedding photographers working in the field today. Their list of accomplishments and accolades is extensive, and we are honored by their participation in our first Look of Love contest. Our panel of judges will also include editors from American Photo and Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazines.
Jim Garner
Recognized by American Photo magazine as one of the Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World, Jim Garner has a unique style that wins accolades and awards nationally and internationally. Most recently, in 2009, J. Garner Photography was recognized as a National Photographer of the Year. He also consistently wins awards at competitions such as WPPI and PPA. Jim will be a speaker at Imaging USA in Nashville, TN, DWF Convention in Nashville, as well as WPPI in Las Vegas 2010. Kevin Kubota
American Photo magazine named Kevin Kubota one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World. His wedding and portrait images speak to the heart — filled with emotion, joy, intimacy and impact. His photos have been featured on the covers and within the pages of many popular magazines and photography books. He has been sponsored to present by Nikon and Adobe, and his work with the Nikon digital camera earned him a spot a Nikon Legend Behind the Lens. Kevin is an internationally recognized speaker, having presented for every major photographic convention in the USA. He created the popular Digital Photography Bootcamp® workshop which has been running successfully since 2002. He authored the book under the same name, now in its second edition, published by Amherst Media. Tony Corbell
In his high-energy career, Tony Corbell has photographed U.S. presidents, world leaders, astronauts, and about 600 brides and grooms since he began in 1979. He has spoken at over 450 seminars and workshops nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Wedding and Portrait Photographers International and achieved the status of Photographic Craftsman from the Professional Photographers of America. In 2005, Tony received the Photographer of the Year award from the International Photographic Council of the United Nations, and the PPA National Award from the Professional Photographers of California. Tony was also invited to join the prestigious Camera Craftsmen of America in 2007, one of only 40 members worldwide.
His book Basic Studio Lighting (AmPhoto) has been popular worldwide and is the basis for numerous photographic lighting courses. He is currently one of a select few Approved Photographic Instructors from the Professional Photographers of America. His new Location Lighting DVD (Software Cinema) has received great reviews and is available on-line. Bambi Cantrell
Bambi Cantrell has been photographing in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years. Her passion for capturing the decisive moment and her subsequent creative style have made her a household name in the photographic industry. Among her many accomplishments, Bambi was honored in July 2008 by the Russian Federation of Professional Photographers, and was presented with the prestigious Golden Eye award, an award only given 10 times in the history of the organization.
In 2007 American Photo magazine named Bambi as one of the 10 Best Wedding Photographers in the World. She was honored by Microsoft Corporation in 2006 by being named the first woman Icon of Imaging in their elite Icons program, and to this day provides photographic educational training to photographers worldwide. Doug Gordon
As a second-generation photographer, Doug Gordon has been honing his artistic skills for almost two decades. He has been around weddings since the young age of 11 when he began his apprenticeship with his dad Ken. Doug continued his training with photography legend Monte Zucker. As the lead photographer and owner of Patken Photographer Inc., Doug heads up a close-knit team of associate photographers that specialize in capturing life with a cutting-edge style, shooting nearly 800 weddings per year nationally and internationally. His work has been featured in many magazines and been a featured speaker at PPA, WPPI, SWPP, Photo Plus and SPD conventions.
His awards and accolades include Artist of Photographic Mastery, Accolade of Outstanding Photographic Achievement, Accolade of Exceptional Photographic Achievement and the Accolade of Highest Photographic Achievement from WPPI. At the age of 21 Doug was one the youngest C.P.P.’s ever and he was awarded the degree of Photographic Craftsman from PPA. In 2007 Doug was given the Accolade of Lifetime Photographic Excellence, becoming one of the youngest ever to achieve this award. He has recently been awarded with the Fellowship of Photography from British Photography Association SWPP.
